PRACTISE TRAINING AROUND THE DISTRACTIONS THAT MATTER.

Your dog can perform beautifully when nobody else is around, but the real test of their training comes during our dog group classes, especially when surrounded by unfamiliar dogs, owners, and movement.

Our Neutrality Group Class offers approved Sussex Canine Academy clients a controlled environment to reinforce the obedience and behaviour they have already learned, ultimately making it an essential part of our reactive dog boot camp programs, but also our puppy and top dog program.

These are active, structured classes filled with neutrality and obedience drills. This is not merely an hour of standing in a field hoping your dog eventually gets bored.

You will practice around dogs of different ages, breeds, and temperaments alongside like-minded owners who are also committed to their dog's training.

Depending on the session, exercises might include:

- Passing and working around other dogs calmly.

- Proofing sit, down, place, recall, and other known behaviors.

- Maintaining engagement around movement and distraction.

- Creating space and advocating for your dog in busier situations.

- Rewarding calm, appropriate decisions.

- Practicing realistic human greetings, such as stopping to talk or shake hands while dogs remain settled.

- Carefully managed socialization exercises where appropriate.

- Controlled recall work for selected level 3 dogs off-lead or others with management.

This is NOT a free-for-all, and there are no on-lead dog greetings. Dogs remain on-lead unless SK9A specifically introduces a controlled off-lead exercise for suitable dogs.

Socialization exercises may be included, but they are structured, selected for the dogs present, and not guaranteed at every class.

Neutrality group classes are exclusively for current SK9A clients and graduates who have completed the necessary training programs and received approval to attend. Simply completing a session or program does not guarantee access to these dog obedience classes; SK9A assesses when the dog and owner team is ready for participation.

Dogs with various temperaments can join once approved, but these sessions are not designed to address severe or uncontrolled reactivity; that work should be done through the appropriate SK9A training programs first.

Some SK9A programs include a set number of pack walks or neutrality group classes. Approved members gain access to an announcement-only WhatsApp group, where SK9A shares information about upcoming classes and booking links.

These group classes are tailored for owners who are committed to their dogs' training and development.

To maintain your booking access after completing a program, SK9A requires that you attend at least one eligible group activity every two months. If you do not attend within this timeframe, your access will be revoked.

Spaces in these classes are limited, and there are always dedicated owners eager to participate. We prioritize those who consistently show up to continue their training journey.
