Puppy Training in Sussex : Perfect Puppy Program
Thirty days of step-by-step puppy training designed to replace chaos and guesswork with clear communication, useful obedience and foundations that last.
Learn how to handle biting, toilet training, crate training, recall, lead skills, settling, socialisation and much more, with four private sessions and a trainer in your pocket throughout the programme.

The Tiny Puppy Stage Does Not Stay Tiny for Long
Right now, the biting might be funny occasionally. The jumping can be passed off as excitement. Pulling is manageable because your puppy weighs about as much as a bag of shopping. And when recall fails, you can still catch them without putting in a personal-best sprint.
Then they get bigger.
The cute puppy that dragged a lightweight lead becomes the adult dog pulling your arm off. The harmless jumping becomes muddy paws planted on every visitor. The recall you planned to sort out “later” becomes the reason the lead never comes off.
Puppies do not simply grow out of everything. The behaviour they practise, the experiences they have and the communication they learn now help shape the adult dog you will live with for years.
The Perfect Puppy Program helps you get the important things right before the little problems become big ones.

Bringing home a puppy often looks much easier online.
Nobody posts the fourth toilet accident of the morning. They leave out the part where the puppy screams in the crate, hangs from your trousers with their teeth and treats every object in the house as a chew toy. They definitely do not show the moment you realise you have received twelve different answers to the same training question.
You may be dealing with:
• Puppy biting that feels relentless.
• Toilet accidents despite taking them outside constantly.
• Barking, crying or panic around the crate.
• Jumping up at family members and visitors.
• Chewing furniture, clothes, leads and anything else within reach.
• Pulling or fighting the lead.
• Recall that works only when nothing interesting is happening.
• A puppy that cannot switch off or settle.
• Worry about confidence, fear periods and new experiences.
• Confusion about socialisation and what your puppy should actually be exposed to.
• A constant feeling that you might be getting something wrong.
You do not need to solve each issue with a separate internet tip. You need one organised system that teaches you how puppy training fits together.
The Perfect Puppy Program takes you beyond teaching a quick sit in the kitchen.
With consistent work, the programme can help you develop:
• A puppy that is motivated to learn and engage with you.
• A clear marker system so your puppy understands when they have made the right choice.
• Strong foundations for sit, down, stand and other useful positions.
• Cleaner transitions between behaviours.
• Early lead skills that can develop into enjoyable loose-lead walking.
• Recall foundations that can become more dependable as your puppy matures.
• Place-bed training, settling and the ability to switch off.
• Greater confidence around new environments, surfaces, sounds and experiences.
• Better household habits around toilets, crates, biting, chewing and jumping.
• A thoughtful approach to socialisation that prioritises confidence and neutrality.
• Short training routines that make practice faster and easier to fit into everyday life.
• A stronger working relationship between puppy and owner.
The aim is not a perfectly finished adult dog after 30 days. Your puppy is still developing. The aim is to give you the skills, habits and training structure needed to guide that development properly.
Good foundations do not remove every future challenge. They make future training far easier to build.

This programme is a strong fit if:
• Your puppy is aged seven months or younger when the programme begins.
• You have recently brought your puppy home and want to start correctly.
• Your puppy has completed the required initial vaccinations before attending in-person training.
• You want help with biting, jumping, chewing, toilet training or crate training.
• You want to build engagement instead of constantly begging for attention.
• You want foundations for lead walking, recall, place and settle.
• You feel overwhelmed by contradictory puppy-training advice.
• You want to understand socialisation rather than simply letting your puppy meet everything.
• You want expert feedback between private sessions.
• You want a step-by-step route rather than a collection of unrelated tips.
• You are prepared to complete short training sessions consistently each day.
Think of puppy training like building a house.
Advanced obedience is the brickwork. Reliable recall, calm behaviour in public and greater off-lead freedom are the rooms you eventually want to use.
But none of it sits properly without foundations.
Rush the early work and cracks can appear later. Build motivation, communication, confidence and simple behaviours carefully, and every future layer has something solid underneath it.
The Perfect Puppy Program does not rush to make your puppy look impressive for a video. It teaches you how to build the basics properly, then strengthen and connect them throughout the month.

Training becomes much easier when your puppy genuinely wants to work with you.
Before the 30-day programme begins, you receive the Food and Toy Motivation Course. This teaches you how to use food, toys and play to create engagement while establishing clear communication markers.
Some puppies complete this stage within two or three days. Others may need a week or the full two weeks. You have up to 14 days because the main programme should not begin until the motivation and communication are ready.
At the end of the course, you will record an Approve My Markers video and post it inside the training community. A trainer reviews your marker system, engagement and motivation. Once the work is approved, The Perfect Puppy Program is unlocked.
This first stage is not a formality. It builds the communication system you will use throughout the next 30 days—and throughout your puppy’s life.
The main programme contains a theory and practical element for every day from day 1 through to day 30.
Each lesson builds on the work before it. You will learn a skill, continue practising it and then connect it with other behaviours as the programme progresses.
Plan for at least two or three short training sessions each day. Puppy attention spans are limited, so useful repetition matters more than dragging out one exhausting session.
Normal life also becomes part of the training. Mealtimes create motivation work. Walks develop lead skills and recall. Quiet periods become opportunities to practise place and settle.
You are not expected to spend your entire day “doing dog training.” You are shown how to make good training part of the day you already have.
The Perfect Puppy Program includes four 121 sessions of approximately 45 minutes each.
Sessions are normally held at the Sussex K9 Academy training area in Heathfield.
Booking in advance gives you the best selection of dates. Booking as needed lets you target a problem when it appears, but suitable short-notice times may not always be available.
All sessions must be booked and used during the active 30-day programme.
The One-Ahead Principle
The online training teaches the full syllabus in the correct order. Your private sessions are then used to keep you one step ahead.
If your puppy already has a good sit but struggles to lie down, we do not waste valuable coaching time repeating the sit. If crate training is going well but lead skills are a mess, the session focuses on the lead.
The result is more useful private coaching and less time paying somebody to recite lessons already available inside your app.
Puppies do not schedule their problems for five minutes before a training appointment.
During the active 30 days, you can message a trainer directly inside the app. Ask a question, explain what has happened or upload a video for review.
Messages and videos can be submitted at any time, day or night. Trainer replies are typically provided within 24 hours.
That means you do not need to wait a week while wondering whether your timing is wrong or whether you are accidentally making an issue worse. Small corrections can happen while the situation is still fresh.
Direct trainer messaging and video review are available during the active 30-day programme only.
What Happens When You Finish?
Completing the programme gives you more than a tick beside day 30.
You receive two group sessions as a congratulations. You can choose eligible pack walks, neutrality classes or one of each. Both sessions must be used within two months of programme completion.

We cannot recommend Sussex K9 Academy enough!
Sure, we’d read a training book, but when it comes to training your puppy/dog with their individual needs and personality traits, well, it can be challenging! Not only are the classes reasonably priced but Cameron’s knowledge is spot on and aligned with how we wanted to train our dog.
He also really cares and wants the best for the dogs he works with. He was so patient with us as first-time dog owners. Over the last two years we’ve participated in the group puppy classes, pack walks, neutrality classes and had one to one sessions; we’ve learnt so much! Ella is still a work in progress but with Cameron’s guidance she’s become the dog we hoped and knew she could be.
We get so many complements from our friends, family members and people of the street saying how well behaved she is and that’s all down to what Cameron taught us, and what we put in to practice.
Thank you Sussex K9 Academy!

I went to Sussex k9 academy with my spaniel when she was about 6 months old with one goal in mind. I wanted loose lead walking.
However, I learnt so much more! Cameron gave me so much insight into how a dog understands and learns allowing me to train in an enjoyable stress free way that allows you to build and develop new skills with your dog week after week.
I left every training session with excitement for the week ahead, keen to get out for another training session with my pup and practise all the things we’d learnt! Cameron is insightful, patient and accommodating.
I can’t recommend Sussex k9 academy highly enough.

We can’t recommend Cameron highly enough.
He’s been working with our German Shepherd (who comes from a very strong working line) since he was 12 weeks old, and he’s now 8 months old. The progress we’ve seen in that time has been incredible, and so much of that is down to Cameron’s guidance, knowledge and support.
We started with the Perfect Puppy Programme, which helped us build a strong bond with our dog and put the right foundations in place from the very beginning. As first time owners of a high-drive breed, having that structure and support early on was invaluable.
We’ve also recently completed the Top Dog Programme, which has helped take things to the next level. It’s improved our dog’s obedience, engagement and focus, while also teaching us how to correctly channel and develop his play drive. The difference we’ve seen in him has been huge.
What really sets Cameron apart is how invested he is in both the dogs and their owners. He genuinely wants the best outcome for everyone and goes above and beyond to help you achieve it. No question is ever too much, and he’s always offering advice, support or reassurance whenever needed.
The pack walks he runs are fantastic too. They’re well organised, enjoyable, and provide a great opportunity for training in a controlled environment. They’ve been great to build neutrality around other dogs too! We have loved every one of them.
Cameron puts an enormous amount of effort into what he does, and it shows. His passion, knowledge and commitment are second to none, and we honestly couldn’t imagine having gone with anyone else. We’re incredibly grateful for everything he’s done for us and our dog so far, and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with him as he grows.
Thank you so much Cameron 🐶 🐾
